Shining among Universities in Delhi
The capital city of Delhi is home to 21 higher education institutions enjoying the status of a university as recognized under the University Grants Commission Act, 1956.Of these four are central universities, five are state universities and twelve are deemed universities.
All these universities can be arranged in a list in many different ways.
One such way can be ranking them according to Times Higher Education’s World University Rankings. Recognised as the most authoritative source of broad comparative performance information on universities across the world by academic fraternity its Top 200 World Universities list for 2009 has only one entry from Delhi.
An alternate way can be to arrange universities by the 4icu.org University Web Ranking.
This inclusive ranking given by 4 International Colleges & Universities,an international higher education search engine and directory reviewing accredited Universities and Colleges in the world is based on popularity as indicated by three unbiased and independent web metrics extracted from three different search engines:
- # Google Page Rank # Yahoo Inbound Links # Alexa Traffic Rank
Though not ranking universities, or their programs, by the quality of education or level of services provided,The 4icu.org University ranking lists our own Jamia Millia Islamia at a rank that is preceded by six institutions. However, there are fifteen higher education institutions that follow Jamia in ranks as shown in the following table :
One of the deemed university the Institute of Liver and Biliary Sciences (ILBS) granted deemed status in June 2009 does not figure in 4icu rank as it is yet to start its teaching programmes with current academic session(2010-2011).
Jamia Millia Islamia – the University that started its journey way back in 1920 from Aligarh is now marching towards a world class university stepping through new programmes and associating with global partners to bring quality education to the host city for Commonwealth Games 2010.
